🏆 The Treasure of San Gennaro – 1st International Chess Festival!

The Accademia Scacchistica Napoletana is proud to present the first edition of the International Chess Festival "The Treasure of San Gennaro".

The Festival is part of the Naples European Capital of Sport 2026 programme and was created with the aim of becoming one of the landmark events on the Southern Italian chess scene.

♟️ The Tournaments

The Festival features two tournaments, divided by Elo rating:

• Tournament A – for players with Elo > 1799
• Tournament B – for players with Elo < 1900

Playing details:

• Rounds: 5
• Time control: 90'+30" from move 1
• Pairing system: FIDE Swiss

Friday 18 September

• 16:30 – 17:00 | On-site registration confirmation
• 17:30 | Round 1

Saturday 19 September

• 9:30 | Round 2
• 15:30 | Round 3

Sunday 20 September

• 9:30 | Round 4
• 15:30 | Round 5
• Followed by | Prize-giving ceremony

💰 Entry

Entry fee:

• Tournament A (>1799): € 60
• Tournament B (<1900): € 50

Discounts:

• € 10 off for Accademia members and Under 18
• 50% for FMs
• Free for GMs and IMs

All participants must register on Vesus.org and pay the entry fee by 12 September 2026. After this date a € 10 surcharge applies.

Tournament B (Elo < 1900)

• 1st place: € 300 + Cup
• 2nd place: € 200 + Medal
• 3rd place: € 150 + Medal
• 4th place: € 120
• 5th place: € 90
• 1st place < 1700: € 90
• 1st place < 1500: € 90
• "Fabio Guarino" Prize for the Best U23: € 90 + Plaque

Prizes are indivisible and cannot be combined. The amounts shown are gross of any tax withholdings required by current legislation.
